Petal the Elephant’s Return to Burlington to be Celebrated
by the Community with “Welcome Home Petal” Parade

Join the Burlington Community on September 14, 2019 to welcome Petal the Elephant home with a parade and other activities.  Petal, the
fiberglass-and-bronze elephant statue created by Philadelphia sculptor Zenos Frudakis, had been a family-favorite attraction at the Burlington Center Mall from 1982 until it closed. She will be celebrated as she returns to Burlington from the Laran Bronze Foundry in Chester PA, on September 14, 2019 (rain date September 21, 2019.)

Petal will make her way through town amidst festivities and fanfare. The parade will line up at 11 a.m. in front of City Hall and step off at 12 p.m., making its way down High Street, ending at the Anchor.

The party will continue until 3 p.m. and will include live music, food trucks, activities for kids, vendors, and more! 

The statue, which was primarily modeled from a real African elephant at the Philadelphic Zoo called “Petal,” measures an impressive 12 feet from tusk to tail, 11 feet high, 8 feet wide, and carries the representation of a life-size ten year old child on her back. This event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Burlington, the City of Burlington, Burlington Township, the Burlington County Freeholders and by Arts Guild New Jersey.
