Phunjo Lama Mountain Project

Donation protected
My name is Phunjo Lama and I am a female mountaineer from a remote village named Chhokangparo found in the Tsum Valley, of Nepal’s Manaslu region. Growing up in the shadow of one of the world's highest mountains I have always had a dream to climb and spend time in the mountains. This inspired me to become Nepal’s firsts internationally qualified female long line Heli rescuer meaning I am able to help in the rescue of people in particularly dangerous situations in the mountains, the number of men with this international qualification in Nepal are also very few. In the last few years I have also had the opportunity to chase my climbing dreams with the help of some private sponsors; my biggest achievement coming last year when I became the first Nepali woman to summit Cho Oyu (6th highest mountain in the world) without the use of oxygen. This year I am planning to climb Manaslu, the mountain I always looked up to as a child, during the Autumn season (September), and then to go on to climb Mount Everest next year. Through my climbing I wish to promote women's empowerment in Nepal and inspire other young girls to chase their dreams and show them that anything is possible; and in the future become a mentor for other young women who wish to become climbers. Any support you can give no matter how much or how little will be appreciated beyond words.
