Playgrounds for Kids

Hi, our names are Sam, Leanne, Johnny, Fern, Fabian, Kevin, and Colin, and together we are on a mission to build playgrounds for underprivileged kids. In 2018, with your help, we hope to install 5 playgrounds in Cambodia for underprivilaged children. Below is how and why we fell in love with this initiative.
While in Southeast Asia we met with some fantastic charitable organizations such as Room for Read, Habitat for Humanity, and Child’s Dream , and explored ways to get involved.
Child’s Dream brought us an unexpected and unique sponsorship opportunity – to build a playground for for underprivilaged kids (many orphans) in a rural area of Cambodia.
In Cambodia, most people live in extreme poverty and have very few options to get educated and improve their standard of life.. Cambodian’s are absolutely wonderful people, with the beautiful souls and big hearts.
When we went over to Cambodia in February to help with the installation, our hearts were swept away. Dozens of local children showed to help with the installation in any way they could to make the playground a reality. Afterwards, while watching these joyful kids playing, and we had a huge realization...
What is childhood like without “play”? What would school have been without recess? How would we have developed if we didn’t have the opportunity to play with other youths, to bond, and to feel like a kid?
Perhaps this is one of the most important aspects of a person’s development, and we all take for granted because most of us had access to playgrounds, sports, and toys growing up.
We had to think what this could mean to a generation on a larger scale. The difference in a generation having access to a playground and growing up together laughing, playing, bonding with each other, compared to a generation that would not?
Our mission is to build as many playgrounds as possible in Cambodia over the next few years and then scale to more countries.
Its costs $3,000 per playground, which includes land grants, the equipment, the construction team, and ongoing maintenance. In 2016 we installed one (all these picture and videos!). In 2018, we will personally be contributing 2 playgrounds, and with your help, we hope to install more than 5.
100% the money raised will to Child's Dream and be directly used for the playgrounds i.e. $9,000 = 3 playgrounds. Every little bit helps, and we and especially the kids will be forever grateful.
If you are looking to make a larger tax deductible contribution please let us know.
Thanks for your time, and we hope you join our mission in building playgrounds for underprivileged kids in 2018.
p.s. we will be installing the playgrounds in February 2018. If you'd like to join, please let us know.
