Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. My name is Yana . I am 42 years old and I live in North County Dublin with my wonderful, caring and loving son, Vincent, who is 15 years old.

In Sept 2017 we were beyond devastated to learn that I had Stage IIB cervical cancer. I completed chemoradiation in January 2018. A scan in April 2018 revealed that the cancer in my cervix had responded but there was now cancer in my lymph nodes. I then received 2 cycles of chemotherapy from May to June but developed progressive deep venous thrombosis which has resulted in severe pain that has been so difficult to get under control. I underwent an emergency thrombectomy but unfortunately I developed an additional DVT that led to the insertion of a stent. For awhile I felt a bit better and in less pain but the DVT returned and the pain has become unbearable.

The Doctors are consulting with other departments but further measures are felt to be too high risk and likely to result in re-thrombosis or significant complications. In the interim, the pain and swelling in my left leg continues to increase. I really looked forward to returning to my house to spend time with my son at weekends but this has stopped because the pain can only be managed in hospital.

My Doctors have told me that a possible option for treatment would be to seek access to a PD-1 inhibitor such as Pembrolizumab. This drug is not yet approved in Europe or Ireland. It costs approx. €6000 a dose and is given 3 weekly for an indefinite period depending on response to the drug. The Health Service Executive in Ireland will not fund this treatment for me.

This treatment is my only hope of survival. I am a strong, independent woman but these past few months have been so so difficult for me and my family. I am a young woman who wants nothing more than to be healthy and at home with my precious son, my family and my friends. I love my life. I will continue to fight with every breath in my body. I have to keep fighting for Vincent.
I really really need your help to raise the money that I need to pay for this life saving treatment. Any donation no matter how small would be really appreciated. Please if you can share this fundraiser to family and friends.
Thank you xx
