Poly Mock Trial Boosters
The American Mock Trial program was created to help students acquire a working knowledge of our judicial system and to gain an understanding of future responsibilities as participating members of our community.
Each year, a new California Mock Trial case is created based on important issues facing America's youth. By studying the case and preparing strategies and arguments for trial, students also develop presentation skills, analytic ability, and cooperation among students of various cultures and interests.
Further, through this performance-based education, the mock trial program allows high school students to develop the skills necessary for the mastery of California state content standards for history and government. Riverside Poly High School Mock Trial Team is nationally recognized as a stalwart competitor. The team holds Riverside County and California State records for more 1st place awards than any other high school in California. We just won the Riverside County Mock Trial Championship for a record 19th time and last season placed number 3 in the State with many of our students winning individual awards throughout the season
The students who compete in mock trial spend many hours preparing for the rigorous trial tournaments. The profiles of the students on the Poly Mock Trial team represent some of the brightest high school students in the country.
During the mock trial competition, teams from opposing high schools conduct a fictional criminal case in court, with one school arguing for the prosecution and the other for the defense. Volunteer panels of real attorneys sit as juries and score the contests, giving, top marks to the most persuasive and knowledgeable teams.
We are seeking financial donations to offset expenses associated with competition fees, travel, accommodations and meals for the team's students, volunteer coaches and teacher advisors.
Thank you for considering a contribution to this worthwhile program. Your generous support will help us with our upcoming trip to Sacramento to compete in the State Competition. A donation to Poly Mock Trial Booster Club is fully deductible (Tax ID# 95-2883296).
