Pop-up Community

Problem:
Wilcox county is located in Southwest Alabama. Some of the most severe cases of poverty in the country can be found in Wilcox county. High unemployment, most the people live 20+ miles from a grocery store making it a food desert. To this day a vast majority of the population does not have access to running water, quality education or health care facilities.
Solution:
In onder to address this problem a new way of life is needed. I believe that together we can uplift Wilcox and break free of the cycles that have been plaguing it. With my family’s historic land I am starting a Pop-up community initiative. Imagine an entirely sustainable, interdependent community. This community will have its own water source, farm, construction crew, school, grocery store etc. Residents will be trained in a specialized trade, and not only provide services to the Pop up community, they will also provide them to the surrounding area. This is the future of Wilcox county Alabama. This Pop-up Community initiative is about creating jobs, promoting ownership and providing people with community building tools to sustain themselves. “Tiny” and medium sized homes will be powered by solar and bio fuel and waste from the community will be non hazardous and composted.
Believers:
If you believe if the vision, please support by first sharing this story. If you know anyone willing to donate building materials, tools, or tradesmen willing to donate their services they can contact the Pop-up Community directly at [email redacted] . Once fully functional this model can be replicated in impoverished communities all over the nation.
