Port Colborne Community Shelter

Donation protected
Since January 21st, we have been running a warming centre at the Guild Hall from 9am - 7pm daily, to ensure that our most vulnerable citizens have a place to go during the day.  Based on the attendance at this centre, we can see that there is clearly a need.  Our present arrangement with the hall ends Saturday, February 9th., and City Hall has let us know they will not be getting involved.  We believe that it is essential that Port Colborne, like every other community in the Niagara Region, should have this service available to our citizens during this cold weather.

Our request to you is for financial assistance to continue funding the current space to provide a warming centre daily until the end of February.  We would also like to make this an overnight site, as there is nowhere in the city for those most in need to go after 10pm.

This is a short term solution to a long term issue, but the need is immediate.  Thank you in advance for any consideration you can give to this request!
