Pray for Ziad
Ziad is a 12 year old boy with a brain tumour. He needs support to have his brain tumour removed by Dr. Charlie Teo as soon as possible. The surgery is now our only option for survival due to the tumour having already grown 8mm in 8 weeks. Without surgery, Ziad could be facing paralysis within one year or death within five. If the tumour is not removed it will cause visual impairment, compromised body functions and memory loss, paralysis with 12 months and death within 5 years. Every day the tumour remains, Ziad is at risk of permanent and life-lasting damage.
The below photos demonstrate the rapid growth of the tumour. The circled images are on scans taken only 8 weeks apart, and highlight the excessive growth of the tumour. If the tumour proceeds to grow at this rate, the consequences will be heartbreaking and devastating.
With your support, Ziad can continue to live like every other 12 year old preparing for their first year of high school. He’s an aspiring rugby player, deeply involved in the football community and was recently selected in representative development squads. He is active, full of passion and spends most of his time outside kicking a ball with friends. He is outgoing, loving, gentle and selfless. He has a heart of gold and is extremely close with his older brother Jordan and younger sister Makayla.
So far, the Soltani family have shown tremendous strength and bravery in this difficult time. Anyone would find it hard to cope with a trauma like this, let alone a child. It has been a difficult and emotional journey with Ziad having already undergone two emergency brain surgeries. This process has already left him with facial weakness, double vision and loss of all sensation down the right side of his body and face. He has missed his football grand final, missed out on school, his school camp, Oztag nationals trials and has now had to reject his offer to be selected for the Junior Penrith Panthers cubs team.. We’re all hoping that this suffering will end with the removal of his brain tumour so that he can go back to living his life as a carefree kid with the world at his feet.
With your support, we can ensure Ziad receives life saving, and urgent surgery. Dr Charlie Teo is the only surgeon willing to remove his tumour due to it being deemed inoperable by other unwilling surgeons. Removal of the tumour is the only possible cure and his only hope in living a long, happy and healthy life.
Brain surgery on this scale doesn’t come cheap and will cost over $100,000. Every donation big or small is greatly appreciated. Even taking the time to share this page may go a long way in getting Ziad his surgery.
On behalf of Trudie, Amin, Jordan, Makayla and all of those who love him we thank you for taking the time to hear our story and for your support in any way you are able to give it.
