Aspiring to Become Parents

It's been a long journey already, but our faith in God is becoming stronger day-by-day.We have been through one of the worst storms in our life together. Within three years, we've experienced three ectopic pregnancies, experienced a total of four surgical procedures, and the removal of one Fallopian tube.

The first pregnancy was ectopic in the left Fallopian tube. This was an emergency surgery as my husband noticed l was literally dying one night. I simply thought that I was weak from the overload of hormones in my body. I could not walk without assistance and he had to carry me to the car. He rushed me to the hospital and the doctors stated that by morning I would have been dead. A few months later, I found out (through my medical report) that my Fallopian tube had indeed burst open that night. After the healing process, doctors followed up with a hysterosalpingogram (HSG), or 'blue-dye', test a few months later. This was a minor surgery to look for any obstructions in my Fallopian tubes. They didn't find any, so the doctors said that we would be just fine trying again for natural conception.

Almost ten months later in 2014, we found out we were pregnant again. This time things looked good, but the embryo never made it to the womb, instead implanting into the left Fallopian tube (again)! Apparently, previous surgeries in a woman's Fallopian tube can cause scar tissue, which explains the second ectopic pregnancy. This resulted in another emergency surgery to remove both the embryo and the left Fallopian tube itself. (According to the doctors, the left Fallopian tube was beyond repair as the baby had grown to take up a great portion of it).

In April of 2015, we again found out that we were pregnant. Since the left Fallopian tube was already removed, we were pretty excited and sure that this was 'the one'! We were getting the blood work done, and hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) levels were doubling as expected. At about the third or fourth visit, we were scheduled for an ultrasound to try and locate the embryo inside the womb and a heartbeat.

When the ultrasound technician became quiet, we knew something was wrong. She basically stated that "only the doctor could interpret the results". We went back to the waiting room for about 45 minutes. When the doctor finally saw us, I was pretty blunt in asking the doctor "what the real deal was". This was yet another ectopic pregnancy. She advised for immediate surgery and quickly asked us to decide on a date before the Fallopian tube would burst, as it had done during the first pregnancy. About four days later we were scheduled for another surgery to remove a third ectopic pregnancy.

After recovering from this surgery, the doctor essentially said that we would be better off discussing our 'options'. We have health insurance, but unfortunately, it provides exactly $0 for IVF procedures. We have researched changing health plans, but none of the plans provide this sort of coverage in our area. It would only be covered if we lived in a state that covers a portion of IVF procedures, to include us having a different insurance plan altogether.

Although we see what IVF costs and the odds that have been coming against us, we are still trusting God to help us through this process. After counseling from our pastor (while living in Europe) and encouragement from friends and family members, my husband and I took the first step to began saving money on a monthly basis. We are determined to keep our focus. In the meanwhile, we will continue to bless others with our words and actions (planting spiritual seed in the ground). When it is His timing,  we know that it will all work out. Every donation is a blessing and will go towards the cost of IVF medications, the IVF procedure, and follow-up care.  Thank you for taking the time to read our story as every detail is true. God bless you.
