GOAL: To build a language school for the children in La Carpio called “The Little Linguist School (El Pequeño Lingüista)."
Last summer, I had the opportunity to clown through the use of music, performance, humor, and play to connect with people in La Carpio; located in the outskirts of San Jose, Costa Rica. During this trip, I got to spend quality time with the local children and learned about their future aspirations. I asked a little boy what he wanted to do when he grows up and his response was to make things. Children in La Carpio have big dreams and aspirations just like other children. Unfortunately, they lack the resources that so many of us are lucky to have such as an EDUCATION! Many of whom struggle because they are not able to speak their own language properly or another language at all. Learning another language is so crucial at a young age. It helps them personally and academically. I want to help them overcome this and give them the opportunity to realize their full potential.
I’ve been working closely with locals of La Carpio and we are SO CLOSE to reaching our goal to begin this project. We already have are amazing volunteer teachers, language books, and the paperwork to build. However, we are a little under budget.
The children and families of La Carpio are filled with love and compassion and they have forever changed my life. Please help me in changing theirs by donating to my project”.
