Research Project on East Timor

Donation protected
Hi,
I am an Australian historian. You can see my profile here
https://researchers.anu.edu.au/researchers/hughes-henry-an

In late 2015 I applied to the Human Rights Consortium (HRW) at the School of Advanced Studies (SOAS), University of London.  A few months ago I was offered a short term Visiting Fellowship in Human Rights. I am developing a project examining issues related to violence and crimes against humanity - you can see the pilot website here http://fransciscoau.wix.com/theahhpages

I think it is important for the historical record on East Timor not to be ignored or obscured. From the time of the illegal Indonesian invasion in 1975 until 1999 as many as 200,000 East Timorese died as a direct or indirect result of the occupying Indonesian security forces.

In London, I want to work on Australian and British diplomacy toward East Timor and systematcally explore the UK archives. The position in London is non-paid, but offers access to SOAS seminars, collaboration, and facilities at one of the worlds top universities for between 1-3 months later in 2016.

I am hoping that I can cover an economy return airfare and some accomodation (hopefully one month) from this GoFundMe campaign. All contributors (individual and organisational) will be publicly thanked and acknowledged on my website and in any subsequent publications should they wish, and will be provided regular updates on the research.

If you are interested in East Timor (now Timor Liste), do consider a small donation for this project. It will be greatly appreciated, openly acknowledged and not forgotten.

Sincerely,
Adam
