Youth Boxers Fight 4 National Title
San Bernardino, CA Youth Boxers Fight For National Title in the 2017 National Junior Olympics Boxing Championships Tournament.
Three top amateur boxing contenders from Project Fighting Chance: "Terrible Terry" Washington (13-14 yr olds; 75lbs), Charles "LoLo" Harris (13-14 yr olds; 110lbs), and "Killa" Kenny Lobatoz (9-10 yr olds; 70lbs), won their divisions at the Greater Western Junior Olympics in Indio, CA, May 20 -21, and are now headed to the National Junior Olympics Boxing Tournament for title competition in Charleston, WV. The tournament will be held June 25 - July 1, 2017.
Project Fighting Chance founder and Executive Director, Ian Franklin, knows the capabilities and challenges of his young scholars who just happen to be amateur boxers contending for National Junior Olympic titles when they travel out of the area.
Surrounded by and often reminded of the negatives associated with being from San Bernardino, Franklin reassures his boxers, "Your truth and greatness will show in your determination to succeed at home, school, community and then boxing. Not, by those who stereotype and label you because of where you're from."
With three impressive amateur boxers ready to compete for national titles, Project Fighting Chance is now seeking sponsors and supporters to help make the trip to the Junior Olympics a reality for these 3 young fighters. The amount being sought is approximately $8000 to cover flights, lodging, meals and ground transportation. Your tax-deductible contribution will create an opportunity to bring the top amateur boxing belts to the city of San Bernardino. And, even more important "pride" to a city that can produce great champions in youth.
Any amount given is a step towards these three kids having the opportunity to become 2017 National Junior Olympics Boxing Champions.
Thank you for your support .
