Project YOUTH
Tax deductible
Hello everyone! My name is Erin Ku and I'm a student at Dougherty Valley High School.
Project YOUTH is one of the sub-sects of a series of fundraisers called The Uplift Series. All funds will be going to the YWCA in Berkeley/Oakland, California.
This project is dedicated to giving more opportunities to female youth of the Bay Area.
Here are where your funds will be going:
Student Leadership Board
An advisory board of student leaders that help plan community service and Cal campus wide projects including the popular Shadow Day, the international Week Without Violence, holiday projects, Stand Against Racism Campaign and the World YWCA Round-the-World Breakfast.
Advocacy
An internship that allows students to development of leadership by engaging in voter registration, lobbying, and building relationships with government officials.
English in Action
A program where volunteer tutors meet with one or more international partners at least one hour each week to converse casually, increasing participants’ competency in the English language.
Dance and Fitness
We offer diverse dance and fitness classes like, salsa, bellydance, flamenco, ballet and jazz.
Pre-kindergarten Enrichment Program
Volunteers can directly interact with and mentor preschoolers in 8 low income schools in Berkeley and Oakland.
techGYRLS
Volunteers mentor and advocate for girls' empowerment through our STEM curriculum at local Oakland elementary schools.
Young Women Financial Literacy
To empower young women and develop future leaders, the program provides the annual Young Women and Money Conference in Oakland offering attendees resources for budgeting, investing, and credit management, and a new Financial Literacy Summit for high school girls in the Oakland Unified School District.
