Project Nature Fundraiser

Who we are:
Project Nature is an aspiring nonprofit organization seeking to take underprivileged youth in urban areas out to experience nature. There is an abundant amount of research that shows the benefits nature has on a child's development, both physically and mentally: https://www.nwf.org/~/media/PDFs/Be%20Out%20There/BeOutThere_WholeChild_V2.ashx . However, it takes resources to take a child from a city into the great outdoors and not everyone has access to those resources. This means that many under-resourced kids in urban areas only get to experience man-made structures, stress, and noise. We want to change that. We want to partner with elementary and middle schools and other nonprofits, such as Boys and Girls Club, to take these kids who have not experienced nature before to reap its benefits. Not only will we be improving lives, but we will be teaching a new generation to appreciate and protect our earth.
What we are fundraising for:
Since our organization will be dealing with young kids, schools, parents, and other nonprofits, we believe to get started we MUST become an established nonprofit organization. This would ensure parents and other nonprofits that a legitimate organization will be held responsible for their children in our adventures. Thus, we need to pay legal fees to become established, and we need funding for our first adventure. That is why we decided to reach out to the masses to help us help children in need of nature's therapeutic effects.

Eric Agredo:
Hello I'm Eric! I am 23 years old and was born in Florida. I am first generation in this country, since my family is from Colombia. I studied computer science at University of Florida and I am now working as a researcher at MIT. I have loved the outdoors ever since Hurricane Wilma. After thousands of people lost power in South Florida, the light pollution disappeared and I was mesmerized by the sight of stars I had never seen before. That memory sparked it all for me.
Ariana Saavedra:
Hi I'm Ari! I was born in Peru and moved to Florida when I was 5 years old. I am studying Industrial and Systems Engineering at University of Florida. I will be a process engineer at Gillette in Boston after I graduate in May 2019. My family and I used to go camping in Peru but we stopped once we got to Florida. I got back into camping once I moved to college and fell in love with it again.
Finally,
We came up with this idea after watching a video of Obama's speech at Yosemite National Park. In the video he said, "We've got kids all across this country who have never seen a park. We've got to change that." We hope you can help us achieve the organization's goal.
