Puerto Rico West Side Relief Fund
Donation protected
My name is Fernando Ufret. I live in Iowa with my fiancee, Stephanie Silva. I am a musician. Stephanie is working on attaining her doctorate degree in immunology at the University of Iowa. Our hometown is Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, where our loved ones still reside.
Cabo Rojo is the farthest point within the island from the metropolitan area of San Juan, and is home to some of the most beautiful Caribbean beaches, including but not limited to El Combate, Boqueron, Buye and Joyuda -- all now decimated.
Hurricane Maria has been the most devastating storm to hit the island in over 100 years. The situation on the island is dire and accurately described as a HUMANITARIAN CRISIS. Let us not forget about our animals as well.
Stephanie and I have set up a fund to help families in need and animal shelters in the areas of Cabo Rojo, Mayaguez, San German and Lajas.
EVERY SINGLE PENNY collected will be donated DIRECTLY AND PERSONALLY to those families identified with the most need with the assistance of local municipal government and other organizations.
50% will go directly to families with the most need (children, elderly, and/or in need of medical attention), and the other 50% will go to animal sanctuaries and shelters.
The two non-for-profit no-kill animal shelters in Cabo Rojo are:
- Santuario De Animales San Francisco De Asis. You may refer to this link for further information on this shelter. http://sasfapr.org/
- Defensores De Animales. You may refer to this link for further information on this shelter. http://defensoresdeanimales.org/
Please donate and share our message.
Estamos unidos, estamos con ustedes, los queremos, los extrañamos, y no vamos a descansar hasta que todos esten bien. Un abrazo!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Please remember to share so others can help as well!
