Medievalism & GOT Subvention

Hi! I'm in the finishing stages of publishing an academic book examining the approaches to the medieval in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones. I have a contract with a publisher and everything. Academic publishing isn't quite like traditional fiction publishing, though, and in many cases, especially with smaller and university presses, the author is asked to help fund publication to keep the cover price down (this is called a "subvention"). Often, the author's university will cover this cost, but I'm not on faculty with a university and thus don't have that backing. Attempts to find grants that cover subventions have been in vain, and so I turn to the generosity of friends, family, and strangers to help make this book a reality while keeping the list price down to something non-library buyers would be able to afford (academic books are expensive!).
