Hello!
Angela Songui & Museability here campaigning in support of Canadian camera artist Robert Slatkoff’s efforts to bring his twice-Covid-delayed exhibition to the public – in-person and online. Our goal is to raise $10,000cdn to support the artist in meeting new exhibition costs related to installation, promotion, and public internet-based ‘live’ events.
In early 2020, Canadian camera artist Robert Slatkoff was excitedly preparing works for his first Montreal-based gallery show in decades at Galerie ERGA …and then, well you’re familiar with the tale by now. Robert’s hopes for an exhibition would be lifted, then dashed again in 2021 on the crest of Covid’s third ‘wave’. We are asking today for your help to realise this exhibition of Robert Slatkoff’s new and newly revised artwork, this time in MAY 2022 and still supported at Galerie ERGA.
The impact of Covid-19 on the Arts has been devastating – arguably with artists taking the brunt of this devastation financially and expressively. Facing an uncertain future is nothing new for creatives so, at 83 years of age, Slatkoff is again venturing forth to the Gallery because he believes in the importance of sharing and communicating creative expression. So do we.
With his undeniably unique approach to photography and composition, Slatkoff’s vision takes our everyday surroundings into the realm of the fantastic and deep, penetrative looking. His works have been praised and acquired by national museums and the most discerning of private collectors.
Our incentive to you for support, you might ask? Well, aside from knowing what a lovely person you are (and you really are!), each donor will have an opportunity to OWN a Slatkoff with our lucky winner announced at a ‘live’/online drawing event during the exhibition run. You could put a Slatkoff on your wall.
We look forward to welcoming you at Galerie ERGA and online – please visit Robert’s website for more details and luscious images!
Thanking you in advance for all your kind support,
Angela Songui & Museability
Robert Slatkoff in his own words
The whole thing is really from darkness to light….
I had a kind of dream. It happened somewhere in Europe centuries ago. I was dressed in peasant clothes and walking along a country road. I reached a small village, wandered through the streets, and came upon a sort of elevated stage. I climbed up and stood at the front. People began to notice, and a small crowd assembled below me. I stood in silence and the crowd was hushed. I remained standing and silent for quite a long time. I gradually realized that the crowd understood why I was there but did nothing but observe. They grasped my message which I delivered without speaking.
Look, I’ve always been a lucky guy. I recently survived two cancers and am privileged at the age of 83 years to be able to continue what is most important to me. I have always been an adventurer but now my physical limits have been reduced. Fortunately, my ability to create works of camera art is preserved and I am producing some of the best things I have ever done. I have come to understand that the only way to reach large numbers of people is to take the leap into digital space. This requires effort and financial resources. It is my intent to keep on going into my nineties and not let the “old man” in.
An online gallery and marketplace are what is needed.
This requires effort and financial resources.
Therefore, I am asking you all for a helping hand. Please go ahead and join my funding effort. Many thanks in advance for giving me the chance to let you see and even own one of my pieces.

ABOUT
________________________________________________________
Robert Slatkoff is a visual artist using a camera for source material.
He has exhibited his work in Montreal and across Canada since 1968. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Canada Council Art Bank and the Musée d'Art Contemporain de Montreal.
Robert begins with images he captures of walls, undersides of boats, construction sites, etc. , then combines and blends aspects of these images in his computer to gradually produce his artwork. The final result resembles an abstract landscape. Though his artworks resemble paintings, they are entirely photographic.
The inkjet images are printed in various sizes up to 40 x 60 inches. There are 3 sizes in editions of 15 for each image.
