Nurse Hubbard Flood Relief
Donation protected
We have all seen on the news about the massive flooding in SC and we never think it will effect us, until it does. My moms house in Forest Acres was one of the homes that was flooded, by the grace of God and my angel neighbors noone in her home was hurt. Living with my mom is a young mother and her two young boys. They have pretty much lost everything. The donations for clothes and food and toys have been overwelming and we are so grateful, we will be passing along clothes to other children because so much has been donated. The love that the community has shown us has been truly awe inspiring. It honestly makes me a little sick to see the place I still really call home to be so damaged, and when seeing the pictures and video of my mom wading through the waters with her rescuers. The enormity of the danger really hit me.
Cindy Hubbard is an amazing woman. I couldn't be prouder to call her my mother. She is always helping others, even now. She is always so incredibly grateful for the the smallest things you do for her and never expects it. Yet any act of kindness I can give her pales in comparison to the many deeds she has done for others throughout her life. She is a school nurse and is always helping families, babysitting for children with medical needs, providing food and clothes in the event of a disaster. And she always has a smile on her face, a laugh on the tip of her tongue, and a hug ready for those who need it. She is truly a caregiver to everyone she meets. She never lets you take care of her though, lucky she has me and I don't really give her a choice. Being adopted is a special kind of relationship, I chose her and she chose me. Adding me to her family made my life complete. I feel so honored to be her daughter and I hate to see her hurting, even though she isn't showing it now. (too strong/stubborn but i love her) Insurance will cover many things lost in the flood, but it took away a sense of security for the 2 young boys who stood shivering on my moms kitchen table, scared to death, and to my mom whos lived in that home for more than 20 years. 20 years of memory and time. I love my mother and I am doing everything I can to help carry some of this burden with her even if she doesn't want to give it to me. I don't want her to have to worry about paying for a rental home, or buying a temporary trailer, or renting a rental car. If i can help give her a financial peace of mind, I will. If you can please help me raise money so that we can rebuild my childhood home, get school supplies for the children and their mother, provide longterm shelter needs for them.
Any excess money will be donated to other families that I know are going through the same thing, and to my 3 amazing neighbors who saved my mom, the boys, niki, and her animals from the flood. Micheal, John, and Ben came into the house and rescued my family from where they were shivering in the attic for hours. The water was cold and gushing and could have easily carried them away, but they risked their own safety to save my family and for that there are no words. I am so beyond grateful. I will donate some of the money to my personal hero's to help with their home repair expenses as well.
Lets rally together and help Nurse Hubbard get back on her feet and show her just how much she means to the community. I am so thankful for anyone who donates or even just shares this post. Thank you so much for your support and love.
The boys were given some plush animals and pillowpets, and the looks on their faces says it all.
