Meredith's Cancer Treatment

Oral Squamous cell carcinoma is not a phrase many people hear in their lives. Even fewer hear these words at the age of 27, especially when they have never used tobacco products in their life. Meredith Preston recently heard these devastating words after a trip to the dentist. A follow up with a recommended ear and throat and nose specialist confirmed that she did have tongue cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma, in particular is a very aggressive form of cancer, and requires exponentially more aggressive forms of treatment. This lively, generous, family oriented young woman has given so much to others in her young life. She is hard working, spending over 7 years in college to become a Speech Language Pathologist. She devotes herself everyday day to children who struggle with developmental delays such as autism, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and cerebral palsy to name a few. Meredith loves nothing more than helping others, but now in this extremely difficult time she is the one in need. Being a speech therapist and getting tongue cancer would break most people. Despite the news she remains ever brave and in good spirits about her upcoming surgeries, radiation treatments, and speech and swallow therapy which are expected to take at least a year. This will be the toughest hurdle she has ever faced. We are hoping for the best news that the cancer has not spread to her lymph nodes or lungs. The goal of this campaign is to raise funds to help Meredith with the financial burden she will undoubtedly face by missed work and hefty medical bills. Our hope is that we can lessen this burden and allow Meredith to focus on healing, her cats, and the family she loves so dearly. Thank you so much for your time hearing her story and donations.
