Help Bentley

Donation protected

Friends,

I am writing this today in hopes that you will feel some compassion towards the tiniest member of my family – Bentley. Many of you know him or might have seen his cute tail wagging around Arlington or Union Market in DC. He has been a constant in my life for over 3 years now and the thought of losing him completely breaks my heart. Today I found out that Bentley was born with a rare, but treatable condition of his spine called Atlantoaxial luxation, in which instability or excessive movement is present between the first two vertebrae within the neck. Up until now he has lived a happy and full life. That is until last night when Bentley unexpectedly stopped breathing. I rushed him to the Emergency Vet and after 30 minutes of CPR he was resuscitated. He is currently being monitored and on a breathing machine, but the surgeons say the only way he will live is if surgery is performed ASAP. I understand that all animals deserve a painless and pleasant quality of life and I would never make a decision to cause my Bentley any amount of suffering. I do believe though that everyone deserves a second chance and my gut is telling me to go through with surgery. I am not one to ask for help but this is a financial situation I was not prepared to take on. If you could find it in your heart to help Bentley I would be forever grateful – no amount is too small!  Any leftover amount will be donated to a local animal shelter so your contribution will not be a waste!

Love,

Amanda
