Qld drought the forgotten state

My name is Ashley and I am a dairy farmer in SE QLD along with parents Ian & Lyndell. My family has been in the dairy industry for over 5 generations - 150 years combined. We are currently suppliers of Norco and supply over 5 million litres of milk per year. Throughout the years, dairying has been hard enough for all farmers with fluctuating milk prices and costs but now its becoming unbearable. Due to the drought that we have been faced with the past couple years and the weather forecasts (STILL) looking grim, I have no choice but to ask for help! Something every farmer feels extreme guilt doing but at this point we have no other choice.
Our cows are a part of our family and we will be absolutely devastated with what will happen to them when our feed and water runs dry. We are currently running on the bare minimum. We have cut all protein meals for the herd and minimised the grain, silage and hay as well. These poor darling are running on empty and there is nothing we can do to help them anymore. We are doing our absolute best to give our cattle the best of the best but at the moment we just don’t have anything left to give. Our farm is running at a loss and sourcing the hay at the ridiculous price it is, is putting our family into more of a financial hole than ever before.
This drought has had the biggest emotional and financial impact on our family that we just don’t know how much longer we will be able to hold on for. We have young children that we were hoping to take over and become the 6th generation of dairy farmers but at this rate that is just going to be a dream. We have asked for help from our own milk suppliers as well as the government but to no avail. This is our last option before the worst things imaginable happen to our beautiful animals.. they die.
We are so grateful that you have taken out the time to read our story and words can’t express the gratitude we feel if you have found it in your heart to make a donation to help our girls. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️https://www.facebook.com/gamblefamilyfarming/
