Erase Student Lunch Debt at WFMS!

Did you know...so far this school year at West Frederick Middle School, more than $400 has been paid by WFMS staff members toward unpaid lunch charges to make sure that every student at our school eats lunch every day?  Did you know...at the middle school (and elementary) level, after a student has charged 4 meals, if a parent/guardian hasn’t paid for charged meals, that student will not receive a school lunch?  Per FCPS policy, high school students are given a WOW butter sandwich, cheese stick, fruit and/or vegetable, and/or milk after 4 unpaid charges. There is no back-up meal in place for middle or elementary aged students. 
According to FCPS Food and Nutrition Services policy and the Standard Operating Procedures for Charging (Unpaid Meals), after a student has charged 4 unpaid meals, "...the school will contribute the money for that child's lunch through either a PTA or administrative account, set up by the school." 

This is the campaign by the West Frederick Middle School PTSA to fund that PTSA account at our school. The need is great at WFMS - $400 worth of lunches in less than 30 days this school year!  We are asking our community to help us relieve the burden on our teachers and administrators at WFMS, to help feed our students who are unable to pay the lunch fee, and to ensure that no child will be told that they may not eat because there is no money available to pay for their lunch.

We believe that our caring community will rise to this challenge and help us make sure no child at WFMS faces the shame of having their lunch taken away due to an inability to pay and that no child has to go through their school day hungry.  Our amazing staff at WFMS will empty their own pockets to make sure no student is hungry, but they shouldn't have to do that!  We can help!  Every penny will help.  We thank you for supporting our children and ask that you give what you can!  Please, share our message far and wide!
