East Bay Queer Prom 2019
Donation protected
We are raising money for the fourth annual East Bay Queer Prom, organized by the Berkeley High School Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA). Every year, we organize this event for LGBTQ+ high school students from all over the SF Bay Area to mingle and celebrate diverse identities that are not included in traditional high school proms.
The event will be held at Impact Hub Oakland at the end of May 2019.
Money raised in this campaign will be used to pay for rental fees, facility expenses, event insurance, food and decorations, outreach, and to help subsidize students who cannot afford tickets.
The event usually costs around $3000 to organize: all money raised beyond this year’s expenses will go towards improving this year's Queer Prom, funding GSA events in the 2019-2020 school year, and funding East Bay Queer Prom 2020.
We are truly grateful for any contribution you are able to make. The past three years’ Queer Proms have been great successes, attended each year by over 200 Bay Area students. With your help, we will continue this tradition, providing a memorable celebration for students who may feel excluded by the heteronormativity and cisgenderism found in traditional high school proms.
Speaking from personal experience, the opportunity to celebrate my identity with other LGBTQ+ high school students was unforgettable and priceless, and we thank you for enabling us to continue giving that to other LGBTQ+ students.
If you or someone you know wants tickets, you can purchase them online here:
