Update
I will be updating this soon as zeus did have an appointment down at chase river in Nanaimo.
Today zeus spent the day on IV getting morphine ketamine and some other pain meds. This cost $340 This will hopefully help with his pain and take it away for a while. He also had acupuncture and laser treatment on his legs. The laser and acupuncture will continue every Tuesday which will cost $80. The vet started him on another new drug which is deramaxx which costed $65 and his tramadol cost 65 but that’s only 10 days worth. I am just giving the prices of everything so people know what the money is being used for. I just don’t want anybody second guessing me and if you have any questions please message me on Facebook (Jessi howden)
I will post all receipts soon whenever I figure out how to do it as when I posted the last one and it went on the cover page. Oops haha

UPDATE
This is info from my vet that I wanted to update on here.
Hey Jesse, Dr. Roberta here.
Here is a bit of a sum-up of what we chatted about on the phone yesterday. I have left a message with Boundary Bay on the mainland, and am waiting to chat with a surgeon there so you can have a better idea of costs. This also gives me a chance to talk to another surgeon about the possibility of arthroscopy, and what they feel are best options for Zeus.
A copy of my notes from yesterday-
Called O to chat about my convo w/ Suk last night.
Dr. Suk is very opposed to amputation.
Options- 1) arthroscopy of R stifle- investigate the joint and remove torn meniscus (which Sukhiani is suspicious of given non-response to Metacam). This wouldn't change the angle of the tibia, which Sukhiani said is very sloped in Zeus (as per most Pitbulls in general). Probably wouldn't be available on the island, cost is unsure, estimate $3000+. Dog would need to be sedated here to fully evaluate asleep drawer and thrust first. If either of these are present- arthroscopy is no longer an option. Quoted for sedation.
2) TPLO of R stifle- likely the best option if O could go for it. It would be a relatively 'medium' level of OA, compared to what Sukhiani regularly sees, and cost approx $5500. This would address the possibility of a torn meniscus, and the tibial slope.
3) Pain management, no surgery, mobility food, joint supplements, laser, acupuncture- All has been discussed before, re-iterated to client.
Overall, Sukhiani would try to treat the R hind now, as it is more affected, rather than waiting for the L to have problems and saving money for the 'less bad leg.' Even with a TPLO of the R, does not mean the L couldn't have issues down the road, hence why amputation is contra-indicated.
Jesse is leaning towards the arthroscopy, but I need to talk to Boundary Bay first and find out how much the estimate would be.
Send me an email back to this address if you have any questions, if not we will be in touch once the surgeons on the mainland get back to me,
Thanks,
Dr. Roberta
Zeus tore his ACL just over 2 years ago. He had surgery at that time and since then, he's walked with a limp. Lately, he's been crying at night so was taken to the vet and the Xray revealed his leg was full of arthritis and his bone is breaking apart. The vet has recommended amputation.
My friend Jessi is heartbroken and as he's on a limited income, is struggling with being able to afford the surgery. The funds will be used to pay for surgery for Zeus and his recovery. The sooner the funds are raised, the sooner Zeus can have the surgery and work on his recovery and improved quality of life.
Zeus is a very sweet boy and Dora (my dog) and I have enjoyed walks on the beach and through the forest with him. Jessi and Zeus are besties! We would all be very appreciative of any financial assistance you could provide.
