Queena: Attack Survivor Movie
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Derrick Bell Perez and I am a filmmaker who is seeking the opportunity to tell an extraordinary story. Let me introduce you to my best friend Queena. She was a bubbly, free-spirited, intelligent senior attending East Bay High School with a bright future ahead of her. While returning her books at the library she was brutally assaulted and left for dead. Since the tragic event, Queena has lost the ability to walk, speak, or move, blessings that most people take for granted. Some may know her as the Bloomingdale Library Victim, but I see her as the Bloomingdale Library Survivor. Queena has not given up on life.
She has been pulling through and fighting her hardest to recover. She has fought daily to move again and gain back the life that was once said she would never have again. Queena has an amazing inspiring story to tell and has asked me to share it with the world. In order for my partner/mentor/brother, Ryan Brison and I to bring this movie to life, we are in need of funding in order to cover: camera, equipment, food, costumes, makeup and post production costs. We are looking to begin filming in January.
Being a survivor of abuse myself, I take this film to the heart. I am truly inspired at the fact that regardless of what has happened to Queena and what she has lost, she still has that beautiful contagious smile on her face. We are very thankful to any and all sponsors for wanting to be a part of this awesome journey to which we are about to embark on.
What is the money going towards?
In order to make a film and bring it to life on the big screen, we will need the right equipment, sets, lights, sound, and cameras. We don’t want you to just go and watch Queena’s movie, we want you to experience her story and come out of it feeling inspired to help support Queena and follow her journey to recovery or even face things in your life you were told you’d never achieve just as she was. We set the budget of this film up so that we can not only be able to cover the cost of production but also have enough in order to premiere/distribute the film to audiences all over the world. All of the funds that are made off the sales of this film and event will go straight into Queena’s fund in order to help her achieve her life back.
How long will it take before audiences can see the film?
Filming for Queena should take about 1-2 months to film and will take several months to edit and prepare the film for release. Once the film is complete we will begin setting up a premiere fundraiser and continue marketing.
