Help get LGBTQ+ people to the polls
#QueerTheVoteCHA 2018
Building strong, affirming policy for LGBTQ+ residents of Hamilton County starts with the ballot box.
That's why the Chattanooga Queer Community Forum, through the City of Equality project, is launching the #QueerTheVoteCHA 2018 Campaign.
We'll be focusing on local, county, and state elections. Here's how we'll be doing that.
We will:
- Host information/education sessions & provide material for candidates running for local office
- Create a questionnaire and scorecard/voting guide for electing candidates, to help inform the LGBTQ+ community where candidates stand on issues important to our community
- Rent several vans, pick up and drive LGBTQ+ persons wishing to vote to the polls on the first weekend of early voting. This will empower LGBTQ+ people to vote in groups and overcome any stigma or anxiety around voting. We will also accompany voters to make sure they are not unduly intimidated at the polls while casting their ballots.
Together, we will Queer The Vote in Chattanooga and bring meaningful policy change to our local governments.
