MALLORY HARTMAN - SAVE HER HOME
Mallory Hartman is a good friend and good neighbor. Mallory is 67 years old and has lived in her home for over 30 years. Mallory had waged a 10 year battle with what we believe is a predatory mortgage company that: (1) did not credit a $17,000 payment, (2) transferring her from one customer service agent to another (3) ) transferring her loan from one subsidiary to another, so there was never any traceable information on her mortgage.
When Mallory received payment books, her payments were return "unable to accept this payment", with several different payoff amounts depending which subsidiary provided the payoff.
Channel 13 tried to contact the mortgage company with no response, which is typical of their service. This has culminated with a claimed foreclosure balance of $44,000, and sold at Harris County to an investor for $58,000 in January. The mortgage company will not even talk Mallory about the $14,000 refund she's due.
Mallory's only income is from Social Security. The investor who bought the property has been very generous by giving her time, to do what seem impossible, and pack up a home with 30 years of memories.
The cost to buy her house back from the investor is approximately $60,000. Mallory could use some free legal help that could get an injunction against the foreclosure, or enough cash to purchase the home from the investor.
I know that this is a long description, but Mallory has no more fight in her, and this is her last chance to save her home … our last chance to save our friend.
