"THERE"S NO PLACE LIKE HOME"
Donation protected
My mother is 93 years old and has spent the last year in and out of the hospital and rehab facilities. As her health and mental abilities have declined her determination and feistiness have increased. Mom is being discharged from a skilled nursing facility a few days from now. Her Medicare insurance will no longer cover her stay there. She desperately wants to come home and I desperately want to make her return home a success.
This campaign is comprised of two goals. The first goal: Funds raised will be used to purchase a piece of medical equipment called a "Sara Stedy".
The "Sara Stedy" is a type of transfer chair that will make it possible for my mom to go from a sitting position to a standing position, and then be moved. Once mom is moved to the place that she wants to be, she can then be lowered safely. I saw this used with mom in the hospital and the whole process was AMAZING.....It was safe, easy and mom wasn't the least bit scared of being moved. The price of a "Sara Stedy" is expensive and mom's insurance will not pay for any of it.
As for the second goal of this campaign, I am trying to raise funds so mom can have trained, skilled help (not covered by insurance) once she gets home and to make her home safe, handicap accessible and more comfortable . Mom has reached a point where she can't be left alone for any length of time. Other than me, mom doesn't have any other children. All of our extended family live out of town or out of state. Skilled help is needed, but it is expensive, and finances are dwindling.
I appreciate every dollar donated and every Facebook post shared with your Facebook Friends more than you will ever know. Thanks to my friends and family who have been there during this journey with mom through her illnesses and to those who helped me create this "GO FUND ME" page. I would never have had the courage to do this without your help and support.
I will be posting updates regularly so you can follow the next chapter in my mother's life.
