Raising Funds for Promise Heights
Donation protected
Anna Alikhani and Kimberly Toepfer are raising funds for Promise Heights (PH) Initiative of the University of Maryland, Baltimore. PH provides a multitude of services to the Upton/Druid Heights community of West Baltimore to assuage the impacts of socioeconomic inequality. Implemented through a place-based, comprehensive model, PH supplements the neighborhood’s strengths with child, family and community-building programs facilitated by licensed social workers.
PH programs include:
B’more for Healthy Babies – engages pregnant and postpartum women in prenatal and support services and resources
Parent University - provides parents with peer supports and facilitates responsive parenting and developmental knowledge
The Judy Center – promotes school readiness through educational services and training for teachers
Community School Coordinators – place-based social workers who facilitate student and community success by providing interventions for attendance, school climate, and parent/community engagement
Family Financial Stability – offers long-term assistance for families in financial crises while promoting self-sufficiency through prevention, education, and shelter diversion
Our young people and families can greatly benefit from the following:
Notebooks - $3 for 2
Backpacks - $12 per backpack
Youth Gloves and Scarves - $5 per item
Youth Winter Shoes - $25 per pair
Youth Winter Coats - $30 per coat
Diapers - $15 per pack
By providing families and young people with these resources, we allow them to better allocate their time and finances. These tangible things can assist young people in their school success, decrease absenteeism by ensuring young people can safely travel to and from school during to winter months and support parents by supporting their children.
Please consider donating to help this wonderful work! No donation is too small and every cent counts.
