Raising money for Mountain Rescue

Inspired by Philip Pearson during our Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition to Snowdonia, who introduced us to the volunteers at Ogwen Mountain Rescue Base.  These men and women, like many others in the Mountain Rescue Service, are on call to give their time for search and rescue on the mountains 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We have a passion for the mountains, and have been fortunate to enjoy many years hiking in the Lake District, Yorkshire Moors, Dartmoor and Exmoor and feel a debt of gratitude to the Mountain Rescue Service.

To this end, Adam Childs and I are going to hike the Yorkshire Three Peaks (39.2km) followed by the Dales way (128.7km) in 4 days.

We will start by completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks in a day: Ingleborough, Whernside, and Pen-Y-Ghent

We then travel to Ilkley in Yorkshire’s West Riding, aiming to walk the Dales Way in 3 days, covering on average 32km per day (20 miles per day) finishing in the Lake District at Bowness on Windermere.
