My Name is Ethan Rogers.
I am a fourth grader at Madison Elementary in South Gate, CA and have been nominated to represent my school and community at the Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC) in Washington D.C. this summer, June 2017.
By attending the JrNYLC, I will join other motivated students from around the country for an experiential leadership program. I have included a sample of our itinerary for your review. As you can see, this will be a powerful experience, enabling me to interact with respected professionals in various fields while building relationships with students who will be my future colleagues.
Attending this program will enable me to further my training and education in the areas of leadership, goal setting and much more. We will learn to work as a team and collaborate as we develop action plans that we can put into practice in our homes and communities, continuing beyond our conference experience.
I am currently one the top students in my school. I was nominated for the JrNYLC by my teacher for my educational achievements and my leadership capabilities. I have been class president and have had other leadership roles during my time at Madison. I am an Honor Roll Student and have recently won awards for Math, Science, Reading, Attendance and of course Principal's Honor Roll.
Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when you were in school and were unable to participate for lack of funds. That is why I am writing to you today.
My participation in the program depends on whether I can raise $3,224 in sponsorships. (The program tuition is $2,195 and my travel to the program, plus other expenses will be approximately $1,029.) I am investing every dollar I can of my own money to make sure I don’t miss out on this unique experience and am also selling chocolates to raise the funds I need. In addition, through my family, friends, and neighbors, I have already raised $688.
That leaves me with a balance of $2,536, and I am hoping that YOU will consider assisting me with all or some of these costs. My tuition must be paid no later than 6/12/2017.
Your support for my sponsorship request would be greatly appreciated.
I have included links to the JrNYLC program website to answer your questions and help you make your decision. Please contact me for any further information.
Sincerely,
Ethan Rogers
