On October 2nd through October 4th, 2016, Haiti endured arguably the worst natural disaster since the 2010 earthquake. Hurricane Matthew, a powerful category 4 storm, devastated the south-western region of the country; leaving a trail of destruction. Hurricane Matthew has been named the strongest hurricane to hit the area in nearly 10 years, with winds of up to 145 miles/hr, which have destroyed many homes; and those in tents. Among the hardest hit areas are Ile-a-Vache, Port Salut, Les Cayes, Camp-Perrin and Jeremie. Over 500+ people are reported dead, with additional statics quite unknown.
WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE:
It has been reported that nearly 90% of the buildings in Camp-Perrin, including homes, schools and hotels, have been completely destroyed. Thousands of families, including children, are forced to sleep on the streets exposed to diseases due to unsanitary conditions. In the last few days, my fiancé and I have received many requests for help from the people of Camp-Perrin. Many of the homes that still remain are not structurally intact and many people are without food, water, clothing and shelter. At this dire time of need, we are strongly encouraging everyone to contribute in any way you can; as any and all forms of donation is significantly contributing to the survival and revival of people in Haiti.
ABOUT ME AND HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE USED:
My name is Johanne Occenad I was born Port-au-Prince, Haiti. My Family is from the small town of Camp-Perrin, where the population is approximately 60,000 people. Over the past decade, we have returned to Camp Perrin and we have met so many beautiful families. The first place we can call home is in need of your assistance. My Fiancé and I will be contributing our time, and contribution to restore the livelihood and memorable city of Camp Perrin; however our contributions alone are not enough.
Our goal is to raise enough funds to help re-build as many homes as we can get funding for to help in Camp Perrin, in addition to assisting those currently in need with means to survive the effects of this disaster. My Fiancé and I have secured the commitment of an architect and engineer who will donate his services towards this endeavor. We will personally fund the construction of one home, and seek your assistance to help meet our goal of helping more families with children to get them off the streets.

The need is substantial, the cause is real, and the disaster is TOO great to ignore!!
