Hello everyone, as you may already know I have been working towards my senior project for Mechanical Engineering B.S. where we design and manufacture a large scale rc aircraft capable of accurately dropping multiple humanitarian care packages.
My team, Matador Aeronautics, the Aerospace Engineering emphasis at Cal State University, Northridge competed at the international SAE Aero Design West Competition in Fort Worth Texas on March 10-12, 2017. This competition was an excellent venue for undergraduate engineering students from all around the world to have their designed and in-house manufactured advanced radio-controlled cargo aircrafts compete against one another. The outstanding design and performance of CSUN’s Matador Aeronautics aircraft took 2nd place, breaking many records on the way and losing only by a technicality.
But the next morning after the award ceremony, when we were preparing for the arduous journey from Texas to Los Angeles, I realized my truck and the trailer in which the plane was stored was missing. We checked hotel video footage and to our dismay witnessed our aircraft and primary mode of transportation drive off without any of them in it leaving us stranded. Aside from the plane, all the toolboxes that the team had used in manufacturing and assembling the plane was also inside of the trailer. The story was so tragic that it made it to numerous public NEWS sectors such as FOX4 (http://www.fox4news.com/news/241356771-story),
NBC5 Dallas-Fort Worth (http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Truck-Carrying-Priceless-Custom-RC-Plane-Stolen-in-Fort-Worth-416074023.html?_osource=mobilesharebar), and Telemundo ( http://www.telemundodallas.com/noticias/local/Estudiantes-de-ingenieria-son-victimas-de-robo-416168853.html).
Despite the hardship, we are purchasing the required tools and rebuilding the aircraft. Even though my truck and the trailer were covered for liability insurance, the insurance did not cover for theft protection. This is where I need your help. Since the truck was the main mode of my transportation to school, I am personally raising funding to buy another truck and trailer. The total expense of the same year and model: 2000 Ford 350 calculated was $18,851. Every contribution regardless of its size is greatly appreciated and will directly help me regain my transportation vehicle and take the burden off my family.
There is another identical GoFundMe page with the same cause. All proceeds from both accounts will go to Eddie Rodriguez. To access the account kindly click on the link provided: https://www.gofundme.com/RecoupEddie-sLosses
