Redemption Dogs Goes To Houston
Update: September 27, 2017
---
Thank you so much - we now have over 40 dogs in our care and vetting bills are adding up!
Any monetary donation made to Redemption Paws through this campaign would be greatly appreciated.
We are grateful to the OSPCA for covering Advanced in-take exam and assessment, Check for microchip, Review of municipal records from the point of origin, Sheltering and daily care including enrichment, Vaccines for parvo and distemper, Treatment for kennel cough,
Treatment for fleas and tics, Treatment for intestinal parasites and Testing for Heartworm and, as appropriate, initial treatments and A spay/neuter procedure for each animal that was a qualified candidate for surgery.
The largest remaining costs are for treatment of heart worm and dental. These are currently Redemption Paws most expensive costs, as well as the care of the senior animals.
We are hoping to have enough left over funds to help more dogs impacted by natural disasters.

Hello Everyone,
Redemption Dogs will be heading to Houston to help alleviate stress from rescues on the ground in Houston. Our volunteers Alex McKay and Tim Alamenciak will be taking a temperature controlled van down so that they can transport back to Toronto as many dogs as they can manage. There are half a dozen local rescues lined up to intake these dogs in Toronto/GTA.
We will be working with Natalie of Hot Mess Pooches to identify dogs already in the rescue or shelter system in Houston which we can safely take. This will ensure we are not taking any temporarily displaced dogs due to weather, and this will free up space in the Houston rescue system to intake more dogs.
We are leaving September 7th. Due back on September 12th.
Our organization, Redemption Paws (redemptionpaws.org) will withdraw the funds personally to use for the transport and vetting care of the dogs.

Budget Breakdown:
We have a budget of $1500 for van rental, gas, accommodation, and food for our volunteers. The rest of our budget is in preparation of vetting costs. Vetting will include rabies vaccinations before coming back across the border, and most of the budget being associated with caring form Heartworm costs once the dogs are back in Canada. You may know that Heartworm is prevalent in Texas and will cost a local rescue upwards of $1,500 for treatment which will take months to treat.
Van Rental: $593.09
Gas: $395.31
We will also be donating to PlanetAir.ca to offset our carbon footprint of the drive.
Offset: 1.552 tonnes / $ 41.58 CAD
Dog Food: $120
Volunteer Food and Accommodation: $425
Total: 1533.40
Unpredictable costs:
Vetting for Rabies for a dozen(ish) dogs
Vetting / Issues during transport
Heartworm identified in Canada
All unused proceeds will be donated to the following Rescues in need in Houston:
Hot Mess Pooches Rescue and Sanctuary
Tall Tails Rescue and Transport
ARF-Texas
Lucky Penny Rox Rescue
Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project
Boarding for Rescues & Animal Welfare
