Refrigerator for insulin

The San Mya Thida and Nyaung Tone Ayarwadi charity clinics outside of Yangon, Myanmar, treat hypertensive and diabetic patients who cannot access proper healthcare.
As an American pre-medicine university student, I traveled with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and medical students to join in on the volunteer efforts. The dedication of the staff was truly inspiring-they ride for hours in the back of a pickup into the hot jungle to reach these rural villages .
Many diabetic patients did not have their blood sugar levels under control. Normal blood glucose ranges from 70-100mg/dL. One patient had high blood pressure and a blood glucose value of 366 mg/dL, another had 500mg/dL and was going blind. They were already on maximum medication dosages.
Usually, a simple insulin injection would resolve the problem, allowing patients to live a normal life, but the clinics lack the funds for a storage fridge. Without insulin, the patients have no more options for blood sugar management and risk nerve damage, organ failure, and secondary disease.
The clinics run every two weeks. One fridge isn't asking anything from us. I believe we can raise enough and change the lives of the patients by their next doctors' appointment.
