️LA BATTAGLIA DI DORITA PER LA VITA

ITALIANO

ENGLISH
Dorita's Fight for Life

Dorita is a vibrant 34-year-old woman. For the past seven years, we've made our home in London, far from our families in Italy. She's the picture of vitality—energetic, positive, and outgoing. Dorita loves music, dancing, exploring new places, and going on adventures. If you know her, you'd never imagine her confined to a hospital bed.
She embodies the epitome of good health. Yet, when I look at her now, it's almost unbelievable. Dorita has cancer.

The summer before the diagnosis, during our vacation in Sardinia, she was unstoppable. Nothing hinted at the catastrophe ahead, just a lump on her left breast. She wasn't alarmed because she had undergone a check-up some months earlier, and the ultrasound revealed nothing concerning—just benign cysts, they told her. They were wrong.
Unbeknownst to us, while we enjoyed our holiday, the tumor continued to grow. Upon our return to London, her breast had further enlarged, prompting another visit to the doctor to remove the cysts. This time, they detected something suspicious.
Since then, her life has been a whirlwind of hospital visits, tests, consultations with oncologists, endocrinologists, and specialists. She received a devastating diagnosis at the age of 32—an advanced, practically inoperable triple-negative breast cancer. It had spread to her lymph nodes, and metastasized to her liver, pancreas, and bones. Life expectancy with this highly aggressive and resistant form of cancer is dishearteningly short.

At her age, with so much life ahead, we refuse to accept this as fate.

Dorita cried for a minute, then resumed smiling, making us laugh with her humor. She declared that she's not one for half-measures. Her cancer isn't just any cancer; she's determined to conquer it.
Instead of us consoling her, it was the oncologist, the nurse, and I who shed tears.
That's Dorita!

In light of her courage, they offered alternative therapies, experimental treatments—a glimmer of hope. She's now trying a new drug to halt the rampage of these rogue cells in her body. If it doesn't work, there's another one to test. However, these treatments aren't always free. Some of them are groundbreaking but come at a high cost, sometimes only available privately.

Moreover, our families are far away, leaving us to face this battle alone. We long for their support during this challenging time.

These are just some of the reasons why Dorita needs significant financial support.

To make matters worse, on the day of her first treatment in London (15.12.2021), Dorita lost her father, who had been fighting for his life in intensive care in Castellammare di Stabia, where her family resides.

A metastatic triple-negative breast cancer doesn't offer much time.

I implore as many of you as possible to contribute to this fundraiser for Dorita.

She must keep smiling and, against all odds, win this battle. I'll be by her side every day, fighting alongside her.

We sincerely thank all of you who choose to support Dorita. ❤️
