Regan's Mission Trip to Kenya

Donation protected
You may know by now that nursing is my grandest passion. But what you may not know is my desire to take it around the world. My nursing story started when my son was born into a 4 months stay in the NICU. 4 years later, I am 9 months away from my BSN and am working in a NICU. I've acheived so much and am so grateful.

I woke one day many months ago thinking about how great medical technology is here in the states, and something hit me. There are many other places in the world that are not as advanced as us.  It felt like a flame ignited in my heart; I want to become knowledgeble in nursing so that I can take it to countries and families that could use it. For some reason, Africa specifically was placed on my heart... "Maybe one day." Little did I know what God would place before me.

A few months ago I ended up at a benefit event for a ministry located in Uganda, that provides obstetric care and education to women and children. It was absolutely life changing. I was ready to hop on the next flight out to help! Instead, I donated what I could and felt blessed to be able to help a mission so close to my heart... "Maybe one day."

This brings us to present day. I caught wind that applications were open for my school's global health trip to Kenya. The global health program takes senior BSN students to different countries around world to provide nursing services. "This is it," I thought. I applied without fear and without a doubt that I was going to Kenya. Two weeks ago, I was selected to join the trip.

"Maybe one day" has become March 9, 2018.

I will be traveling overseas to visit clinics and villages. I will be providing nursing care to men, women, and children. This opportunity has come as such a blessing to me. It's hard for me to put into words the joy that covers my heart. I set my sights on something I didn't know if I'd ever be able to accomplish, and now it's happening in 4 months.

While I am beyond ready to take part in this trip, I need help raising money to pay the required fees. This will cover the cost of my flights, lodging, transportation, and some meals. I need to raise $3,600 by March, and must pay half of that on January 1st for my plane ticket.

Any help is so graciously appreciated. Thank you to those who have been and are a part of this journey with me. I would not be here without the support I have consistently had throughout all of nursing school. This is going to be such a defining moment in my nursing story, and I can't wait to share my experiences with you all.

Love and light,
Regan
