Rekindling Roots in partnership with Hedge-U-cation CIC offers Asylum seeking families and individuals the opportunity to come to our camps for a day or a full week to learn and share skills in a community based enviroment.
After all that they have endured, on arriving in England the journey doesnt finish there, as they navigate the asylum seeking process in the UK.
We are looking for funding to allow familes and individuals the opportunity to intergrate into their community and the wider community through skill sharing and play activities for all the family. We run a full week of Activities from music and dance to cooking, Forest school, working with horses, crafts and theraputic play, and much more.
We would like to offer fully funded places at Hedge-U-cation as well as travel expenses, to families from the local area and wider UK locations. If we raise enough funds we would like to also offer bell tents set up, ready for the families when they arrive.
We want to offer a postive experience of what UK life can be, On their arrival they apply for asylum and this process can take a long time. In this time they recieve little financial help and many grass roots projects support them through this process while they wait in a broken system. Rekindling roots and rebuilding their lives is a slow process and can be very isolating for many.
Through coming to the camp friendships can be forged and myths dispelled by sharing skills together. These skills can then be taken out into the wider community supporting employment opportunities. Building lasting friendships and confidence for the future with a feeling of community that can be lost in the world today.
