Relief for Humble El Families

I am a teacher at Humble Elementary that was thankfully not affected by Harvey.  However, many of the school's students and some teachers were affected. severly.  They lost everthing and some are displaced from their homes. I am looking for your support to help them on their road to recovery and extend some compassion to those families in need.  It is my hope that we raise enough funds to make care packages for the families and those teachers affected in our school.

Our school was in an evacuated and severly flooded neighborhood, but thankfully the school did not receive damage.  These funds will specificaly be used to purchase items needed by those who have very little left (student's families and teachers). 

I want to use these funds specifically to purchase calming items for students (mini stuffed animals, journals, coloring books, etc.) along with giftcards for groceries to help the adults (parents and teachers) while they transition back into school. (School supplies and clothing are not a need at this time.)  I want these families to feel embraced by love as they walk through our doors the first week back to school (the first day of school was postponed  by two weeks due to Harvey's visit).  I need them to know that they are now safe and loved!

We are a school of enrollment at about 650+ ( we typically have 100+ new enrollees throughout the year), so I'm hoping to raise enough for each family to receive at least $100 worth of items/giftcards to take home in the coming weeks and allow funds to be equitable. Although I do not have an exact count as to how many families were affected, I am able to say it was  apx. 30%-40% of our students and it is unknown how many teachers.

If I could do this alone, I would.  But, I am not in the position to do so.  I know that by the grace of God and all of the good in the world, we can acheive the dream together!  This is our future we are investing in, let's show them how to spread empathy and love!

I would be happy to send pictures to those who want to see the care packages in its finished state.  I completely understand how difficult it can be to trust a stranger, but thought this would be the quickest option I had to spread the word.  Thank you so much for reading my story and your consideration in helping this cause!  I began the campaign with  a personal contribution of $100 to prove it's not a fraud.  Any amount would be appreciated and helpful.
