Relight the Dome of Courage

Tax deductible
*Please help us restore this unique glass domed, brick Civil War Memorial building.  Built to celebrate the incredible courage of the thousands of Civil War Veterans from western New York State, it was dedicated in September 1914. Its inscription reads “To the memory of its soldiers and sailors in the war of the rebellion, this building is erected by Cattaraugus County.”

*Although the structure is sound, the Memorial suffers from decades of vacancy and neglect. Its glass dome is gone and its roof and beautiful interior need a complete restoration.

*CAMP, Citizens Advocating Memorial Preservation, has struggled for four years to find a pathway to make this happen. With the encouragement and support of the Landmark Society of Western New York, we have now purchased the building from the county.

*Named one of the “Five to Revive” significant restorable regional buildings in Western New York by the Landmark Society, this treasure awaits a fresh start  As winter approaches, CAMP  plans  to quickly raise the necessary funds to stabilize the structure. We hope you can find it in your heart to help us begin this journey.

*With your help, families and others may again have a place to visit and honor their own heritage and heroes.

*Please send what you can.  We will keep you abreast of the progress we are making.

May the sun soon beam its light through the Dome of Courage to memorialize all those men and women who gave their lives to make our country what it is today.
