Help Us Save 80 Orphaned Dogs from The Puerto Rico Hurricane!
As everyone knows, Hurricane Maria devastated the US territory of Puerto Rico. In the immediate aftermath of this natural disaster the world rallied to help save as many people as possible. With that in mind, all the airlines stopped transporting dogs and focused on humanitarian aid and getting the people out of PR.
As important and necessary as this was, it has left a dire situation so much worse for the dogs of the island.
Many strays have been driven out of their living areas.
Many have become strays because their owners were forced to leave them behind to escape with their own lives.
In an effort to help, Great Dog Rescue New England, is committing to bringing 80 orphaned dogs to new families here in New England. We are focusing on the town of Jayuya which was hard hit by the storm and is now, as you can see from the photo, a ghost town of ruin.
But, to do this, we need your help! Since the commercial airlines will not transport animals out of PR at this time, we need a private plane.
We have secured transport, but the cost is $30,000. Hence, we need to reach out to the GDRNE family and beg for your help to make this important mission happen.
This is a hefty goal and hence every dollar will matter, so we ask you give what you can. Everything is appreciated.
