Man Fatally Shot 10 Days Before 28th Birthday

On Friday, August 15, 2014, our family's world was turned upside down and our hearts forever broken. 

Paul McKernan, who was a hard-working, compassionate electrician working in West Philadelphia, stopped at a nearby Chinese restaurant after work to pick up a snack. After another man had a confrontation with him inside, Paul chose to be the better person and walk away. The man, whom has yet to be found or identified, however, followed him outside and proceeded to shoot him in the neck, killing him. Paul was unarmed and just 27 years old, only 10 days shy of celebrating his 28th birthday at the beach with his family. 

Paul had such a zest for life, always making people smile and his laugh was absolutely contagious. He was such a kind hearted, caring, and determined son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, boyfriend, and friend to and loved by so many, and was so unjustly taken way too early from us. Losing him is a void that will never be filled in our hearts and in our lives.

Many have been asking how they can be of help to our family during this trying time. This has certainly been completely unexpected, both emotionally and financially.
