Reuben and Sierra Fund
My name is Ericka DeHoyos and my son, Reuben DeHoyos Jr. and his girlfriend, Sierra Marco were in a tragic accident on December 24, 2016, in El Cajon, CA..
My son was driving home with his pregnant girlfriend after having dinner with her family for Christmas.
My son was 2 blocks from home and had the right of way. Upon approaching a T in the road one car pulled out of the side street beings as she had plenty of time. At that point the female driver behind that car figured there were no cars comin due to the driver in front of her pulling out. My son tried to avoid this lady with no luck. The impact was so hard it turned my son around in a 180 degree turn. My son as well as his girlfriend were rushed to the hospital into the trauma unit. Reuben had to undergo surgery to fix the damages to his face. Reuben has over 500 stitches and 17 staples. He had to have graphing to fix his left eyelid. Sierra has a collapsed lung and they inserted a chest tube. Her condition started getting worse so they placed another chest tube in. As of today they are still in the hospital. Sierra is unable to walk, unable to move, unable to sleep. She needs 24/7 care and can not move, rotate, or go to the bathroom with out nursing care. She is tremendously sore and uncomfortable with lower body nerve damage. Reuben can not bend over without getting a migraine. They have a long road of recovery. It will take Reuben 6 - 12 months to heal and just as long for Sierra. Reuben works construction and will be unable to work. Sierra works in a doctors office and will not be able to return until cleared by doctor. Doctors stated they are lucky to be alive and they both should not have lived through this. It is truly a nightmare knowing you could have lost your children over stupidity of another driver not making sure the coast is clear of other drivers. They are expecting a baby and so far, so good. I would like to make sure they have no worries. My son will undergo more surgeries to repair his face. Please I am asking you to help this young couple and unborn grand child. Anything will help. No matter how big or small your donation will greatly be appreciated. They need alot of financial help to get through this for insurance will not pay for some of the bills that they are accumulating. Thank you in advance.
