Rev. John Poleski has been serving the San Diego area for over 30 years as clergy, teacher, pastor, musician, and singer/songwriter of sacred, inspirational music. We are asking you to help defray the costs of his treatment.
On December 18, 2016, Rev. John went to Urgent Care for chest congestion and cough. He was diagnosed with Bronchitis and sent home with antibiotics and cough syrup. Sounds about right, right?
Still having trouble breathing, Rev. John returned to Urgent Care just before Christmas and was given a breathing treatment. Sensing something wasn't right for his chest congestion and coughing to be so persistent, he returned to Urgent Care on Dec. 31st for a chest ex-ray. It became an unforgettable New Year's Eve.
That's when his world changed.
John received an emergency referral for a CT scan to confirm what appeared in the chest ex-ray: tumors in his upper right lung. That was the first of several carefully phrased words of compassion and encouragement by doctors and specialists that all have been moving Rev. John closer to the actual diagnosis received Feb. 1, 2017: Stage 4 Lung Cancer with tumors in his right lung, windpipe, lymph nodes, and right hip bone.
Rev. John has been fast-tracked through all of the consultations, biopsies, tests, and scans throughout the entire month of January. He has met with his Pulmonologist who performed a Bronchoscopy biopsy to confirm the cancer, followed by lung function tests, a PET scan to highlight potential additional cancer locations, and an MRI of his brain and brain stem to rule out metastasis to the brain. His Oncologist scheduled a consultation with Radiation Oncologists at UCSD in addition to a January 31st bone biopsy on John's hip.
Rev. John was also treated at the Tibetan Healing Center and now has a special eating plan with prescribed herbs and supplements to boost his immune system, however these must be suspended during his chemotherapy or radiation treatments. He is also using therapeutic essential oils for healing and well being.
The chemotherapy sessions are expected to begin within the next week to 10 days, followed by radiation treatments. But it isn't all about the medicine and medical costs.
We believe in the power of prayer and positive attitude. We believe that God is all there is, and that God is more powerful than cancer. Rev. John has always taught, "It's not what happens to you, but how you react and meet the challenge. Whatever the challenge may be."
Rev. John and his prayer teams are focused on seeing the cancer in his body diminish and dissolve. He is confident his faith and attitude are paramount to his healing success.
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matt. 21:22
The family and friends of Rev. John Poleski generously ask for any monetary contributions to provide financial support during this challenging time of his treatment and recovery. We kindly thank you for your support towards our family & also appreciate your thoughts and prayers. May God bless you.
We ask you all to stay strong in visualizing perfect health and wholeness for John. We ask that you include Rev. John in your daily prayers. We thank you all for the love and support throughout this time. John is strong... he will overcome this and he will make a full recovery.
