3.6 Million Revolutions for PPC

Tax deductible
I feel very fortunate and grateful that I am taking a bike ride across North America. I will start on the shores of Maine and, if all goes well, arrive a few months later on the coast of Oregon. It is something that has been done quite a few times before but it is a new experience for me. And it is still something unusual enough that many people seem really interested when I tell them about it.

By the way, I am covering all of my personal expenses on the trip. That is not the purpose of this GoFundMe.

Given that the ride may be of interest to people, I want to share my experiences along the way on my blog, How to Quit Your Corporate Job and Start a Revolution.  And while I’ve got their attention, it seems like a perfect opportunity to make a pitch for something we should all care deeply about; justice. Specifically, I want to draw attention to what may be the greatest and most necessary movements of our time, the struggles for economic and climate justice, because the forces that must be overcome in order to achieve either one or both are the same.

Hence, I am calling my trip 3.6 Million Revolutions for Justice. If things go mostly as planned, at the completion of the trip, I will have traveled at least 4500 miles. It could be a little more but that is a nice round number. That will come out to roughly 3.6 million revolutions of my tires which have a circumference of 79.25 inches.

In the spirit of connecting the climate and economic justice movements, I am creating two GoFundMes.

This first one is for The Poor Peoples Campaign:  A Call for a National Moral Revival.  From the PPC website: "The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is uniting tens of thousands of people across the country to challenge the evils of systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, ecological devastation and the nation’s distorted morality. We need you to step up and join our efforts."

To represent the climate justice movement, I have set up a second GoFundMe for the Civil Liberties Defense Center.

And so, I am asking that you contribute to either one or both of them at some level. Please read the full description of the ride if you need more convincing.

Consider a flat amount that you can afford or some amount, like $0.01 per mile. And of course Mr. Soros, you may donate a penny per revolution if you wish.

One last request is that you ponder these words by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in which he says we need more than charity now; we need a "revolution of values".
