Rhodri Morgan Statue Fund

To raise funds for a statue of the former First Minister of Wales, Rhodri Morgan, to be located in a public space near the Senedd Cymru (Welsh Parliament).

Rhodri Morgan was an MP and Assembly Member for Cardiff West, becoming First Minister of Wales in 2,000. He served as First Minister until 2009 and was widely thought of as the ‘Father of Devolution’ in Wales. He died in May 2017. He has been described funny, clever, engaging, a maverick politician and a father-figure of Welsh politics. “He did so much to fight for, and then establish, Devolution in the hearts and minds of the public in our country.” Carwyn Jones AM, Former First Minister of Wales.
