Please help me help my grandsons!
I am a disabled grandmother living solely on a small fixed income in North Carolina. My husband passed away, leaving me a widow in my early 40's. My daughter, now in her early 30's is a drug addict living in Texas, and she and her abusive drug addict husband are both currently in jail – and likely to be there for quite a while. She has lost custody of my two young grandsons. They are bouncing around in foster care homes. They are not allowed to have contact with their mother. Before their most recent placement to a new foster care home, they were abused AND were segregated, from the bioligical children of the home. They are smart, sweet, energetic boys. It has been a long time since they have seen anyone they know, anyone who loves them – they are lost in a maze of indifferent state care programs, thousands of miles away from me. I am desperate to get to Texas for a few weeks up to an unknown number of months in order to visit them - be with them and be there for them. While I've had limited conversations with their overworked Social Worker, I'll need to establish a repore with Child Protective Services and it is likely I'll need to hire an attorney. The little boys need to know that they are loved and not forgotten, and to start the process of getting them transferred to North Carolina where they can be cared for properly. I am the only one in the family who can possibly make this trip (they have jobs, etc). However, I have no means to cover travel costs or manage accommodations and transportation or secure an attorney when I get there. I love those boys so much and I would be so very grateful if you could help me with even the smallest donation!
