Fire Damage-Peacock Hill Equestrian
Donation protected
On Monday, October 9th, the Canyon Fire 2 caused massive damage to Peacock Hill Equestrian Center. Fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, the brush fire erupted into a fast-moving blaze, consuming 7,000+ acres, raging towards Irvine Regional Park - and our beloved equestrian facility.
Our boarders and trainers had less than 3 hours notice from the first signs of smoke until they witnessed flames racing over the hill only a few dozen yards behind the stables. We are incredibly proud of and grateful for the the help of our barn family, volunteers, and Good Samaritans who successfully evacuated all 150+ horses from the property. While all the horses are safe, we sadly cannot say the same for the barn our horses and boarders call home.
In less than an hour after the evacuation, we watched with heavy hearts as local news crews caught footage of our barn burning. Many boarders have called PHEC home for over 20 years, and several renowned trainers run world-class programs from our facilities. To see the trainers offices, the main barn, and our stall rows burn has been devastating.
Peacock Hills will remain closed until the fire damage can be repaired and our facility can be restored. Our main barn is completely destroyed, and many other stalls incurred losses. All funds raised will go directly to repairing our facility as quickly as possibly so that we can return to operations and our displaced horses can return back to their barn home.
