Robert's Study Abroad Trip

I am Robert Dennis Jr., a sophomore finance student (3.78 GPA) at Oral Roberts University (ORU), who is raising support for a study abroad course in Israel. I am a student who will be participating in this program. The Israel Study Abroad is one of many study abroad programs at my school ORU. As a qualified student, I will participate in this field study in Israel with my professor ,Dr. Eric Newberg, who wrote his dissertation pertaining to the Pentecostal Mission in Palestine and teaches a class on Historical Geography of the Holy Land. This Israel Study Abroad that I will be participating in is offered through a consortium agreement between ORU and Jerusalem University College (JUC) located in Israel. The JUC course that I will take this summer (May 14-June 3, 2018) is an academic study of the land of the Bible. Unlike traditional tours of Israel, this course helps will help me to place biblical events in their geographical, historical, and cultural setting. It offers a unique approach that JUC has developed over the last fifty years through on-site study of Land of Israel, serving fellow graduate students, seminarians, undergraduate students, ministers and many individuals. Most of the coursework will be done on location where biblical events took place. Prior map work that I am fulfilling will provide the necessary context for fieldwork done in Israel. This program has impacted many students who have made it a highlight of their Christian college or seminary training. Any assistance that you can provide to me in raising support will be a worthwhile investment in his preparation for my lifetime goals of traveling the world in order to understand the many cultures that exist and becoming a bridge between the two as the world we live in becomes a more geocentric society. I, Robert Dennis Jr. am going on this trip in order to see the world more fully, become more educated about our shared past, and see what it will take to build a sustainable future for the generations to come. I will need $5,175 to do this by April 14, 2018 and this is the following budget for this trip:
