Rod's New Power Chair Fund
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Colette and I want to share my story of two great friends who I've known for many years. Rod and Carol recently opened their home to me until I move into my new apartment in December. I recently was told to move into a first-floor apartment, because of balance issues.
These are the way my friends are. They come to the aid of others when they are in need. I decided to start this Go Fund Me fundraiser for them. Rod was once a Journeyman in Machine tool repair at a local foundry for over twenty years until his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis took his livelihood and his ability to take care of himself. Carol and their son James work well as a team to meet Rod's needs.
Rod recently was diagnosed with Secondary Progressive MS from Rapid Remitting MS, which means his mobility worsened and he relies more on his power chair, but it malfunctioned and they can't afford one at this time because they drained their savings to get a mobility ramp on their house. A new power chair would improve Rod's well-being. He would be able to continue his Medicare Silver Sneakers free gym membership, sit outside and ride alongside Carol on walks and be able to ride over rough terrain.
If funds aren't met, we would be more than happy with a used power chair in good working order with four tires and a high back seat. I want to thank you all for reading my story.
